Last day of 42. Festival of Dalmatian Klapa (a cappella singing) was also the grand finale in male singing - traditionally the biggest event of the festival. This year winner was klapa Šufit from Split, already famous among lovers of this type of singing.

The festival was founded to preserve and promote klapa songs as important part of Croatian culture. It is of a competitive nature, and is held in Omiš since 1967.

More than 2.000 people attented last night grand opening of new swimming pool complex placed in western part of town - Kantrida.

After 2 years of building,  Rijeka is finally ready to entertain the 12th European championship in 25m long pools.

Untill today 25m long pool and small poll for non swimmers are finished, the old pool will be reconstructed and one more will be builded.

Belgian producing house “Woestijnvis” started worldwide search for “birthday twins” - people who share birth dates with 23 Belgian men and women, that are already selected upon their interesting lives, backgrounds and jobs. 

The idea and project started with usual question everyone asks at some point: What would my life be like if I’d been born in another country? This team is trying to actually get an answer. 


They want to find people all around the world, including Croatia, who share birth dates with their subjects. Plan is to bring the production here to look for parallels and contrasts to Belgian life. The lives these people have don’t have to be unusual or fantastic. They want common, ordinary people because they can have interesting lives and stories to tell. But they want to see what they have in common, and what is different. That’s what makes it interesting.


This is serious project, first episode is already finished in Africa.  Researchers will compile a list of potential candidates and interview them over the phone.

Gorski Kotar, greenest region in Croatia, is placed from behind Rijeka til Vrbosko (toward Zagreb) and Lika on south. Through it, within 22km flows river Dobra, second largest river of this region.

Kvarner Riviera is placed between Istria and Dalmatia. Its biggest town is Rijeka, administrative centre of region, followed by Opatija, Crikvenica and Krk – popular tourist destinations. Tourist tradition lasts more than 160 years, and beside summer season expands every year more on winter season offering congress tourism    

Easiest way to reach Kvarner is by plane, there is international airport Rijeka placed on island Krk. There are many new roads constructed, from Istria and highway from Zagreb direction. Part of this modern road is still under construction, but should be finished until end of this year.
